Javier Cataño-Gonzalez is a Melbourne-based film and video director, video editor, photographer, marketing assistant, and scriptwriter. With 20 years of experience, including over 13 years in Australia, Javier has worked on various film projects, ranging from short films to TV shows, corporate videos, documentaries, travel, arts, real estate, and events.
Javier oversees every step of the production process in the projects he undertakes. This includes writing, storyboarding, music selection, editing, colour grading, and publishing.
Being innovative and staying up-to-date with current trends and the latest equipment, Javier ensures the highest quality in video production. He has also assisted partners and clients in managing their social media channels and frequently supports marketing managers.
With a particular passion for documentaries and a deep interest in learning from the life experiences of others, Javier embraces his Colombian heritage and enjoys immersing himself in South American culture. His love for travel has also taken him around the world, fueling his creative pursuits. Javier holds a bachelor's degree in film and media and is genuinely enthusiastic about the arts and the film industry.
Recent credits of Javier include the Channel 10 TV show Farm to Fork seasons 5 and 6 as video editor and the award-winning short documentary Dance with Pride - A Journey of Identity Through Movement, winner of the best Australian short film at the prestigious Melbourne Queer Film Festival in 2024.
